The Burrow
A private home-automation app for a single household.
The Burrow is a personal application used by one family to control the equipment in their own home: door locks, lights, cameras and heating. It is not a product, it is not distributed publicly, and it has no users other than the members of that household.
What it connects to
- A Home Assistant server running on the household's own hardware
- Z-Wave door locks and light switches in the house
- Cameras on the property, recorded locally
- Google Nest thermostats, through Google's Smart Device Management API
Where the data lives
Everything the app reads and controls stays on the household's own server. There is no third-party analytics, no advertising, and no account system beyond the household's own Home Assistant logins.
Privacy
The privacy policy describes exactly what information the app touches and what happens to it.
